SoilCare Inc Workshop - Phosphorus
Tuesday 21 March, 2006

If you thought soil chemistry was boring then you have not met Roy Lawrie, Senior Soil Chemist NSW DPI from Richmond.

With 30 years experience in NSW soils, Roy Lawrie has a lot of information to share. His broad interest in soil properties that affect plant growth extends to the many soil types found in NSW.
Previously Roy has worked on the North Coast in land evaluation for agriculture, phosphorus use on dairy farms and nutrient budgeting. SoilCare Inc invited Roy to the Far North Coast to talk to us about soil phosphorus.

SoilCare members and guests enjoyed an interesting and entertaining workshop highlighting the management of soil phosphorus.

Roy spoke about the principles for phosphorus management including testing methods and environmental issues. He also spoke about the value of nutrient budgeting.

As the shovel slices through the soil the story starts to unravel.
SoilCare members (below) learn to 'read' the soil.
